STONELEIGH

LIVING AREA AND UPPER HALLWAY

Kate wanted a lighter feeling to the whole cottage keeping its character which, because it was  400 years old seemed a little dark. The starting point was the lounge. The beams were sand blasted and we chose Little Greene Slaked Lime Mid and Deep throughout the lounge, hall and stairs.  We also re-arranged all the art work and photos throughout the house, which decluttered and seemed to bring a calmer lighter feel to the rooms. The fabric used in the lounge and hall is Alhambra Linage Collection, which we broke up with an inset of soft turquoise on the roman blinds and a beautiful rim on the curtains.  The lamp is the Cross floor lamp from our range in store.

The colours flowed through into the hall and we recovered the ’love’ seat that her boys sit on every morning before school.

The change Stan Matthews Design Studio brought to the bedroom was stunning.  Stan designed and fitted hand painted wardrobes and bedside drawers. He also managed to squeeze in a delightful curved top for Kate, with a drawer to store her hairdryer!
